Are they going to start bailing out the construction companies?

  1. The funny thing about this … I have construction work to do around the house. Not a big project, like a new house, but still about a month’s worth of work with concrete, roofing, etc.

The current earliest start date is June. June 2025. From a shop not working on Kollektivvertrag. Those are even later.

    Yeah, big crisis,..

  2. Most probably yes, they will bail them. I would like to remind everyone about the dinner that took place between the construction companies and the major parties before the elections. Dinner where The Greens and LSAP were invited and did not participate. DP and CSV did. I guess this is what Luc wants to do with the taxes paid by the non-voters. Bail the Lux construction companies. Another day goes by in the life a non-citizen.

  3. Even if left-wingers like dei lénk call for a bailout in the sense of buying up companies, etc. I’m sure that won’t happen. That could open a Pandora’s box and it has never really worked on the long term in other countries.

According to their declaration, what they are doing, and I think this is the best option, is to ensure workers are paid, i.e. chômage technique/partiel, and further incentivize the housing supply with tax benefits. But knowing Mischo (Minister of Labor) from his time as mayor in Esch, he could totally screw that up.

  4. I have little sympathy for the construction sector. Kurzarbeit seems like it could be a good temporary solution but this sentence about tax incentives is really worrying.
