I had to learn the hard way what salty water does to fancy leather shoes.
We usually have basically no ice on sidewalks in Moscow during winter due to the excessive use of salt, that sometimes is mixed with gravel or sand. It massively reduces fall related injuries, but is harmful for the environment, hurts dogs’ paws, and destroys people’s shoes if you neglect thoroughly cleaning them every day.
For motorways liquid deicing agents are commonly used.
Fuck you physics, for ruining my leather shoes
I am fine with excessive salt. I hate slippery sidewalks!

ah fellow, winter salt enjoyer. What helps a lot is to wash shoes after walking with water.
