Energy price hike prompts Italian nuclear rethink: “Right pushing for a rethink of the country’s long-standing nuclear ban, citing the need to attain energy sovereignty to manage rising energy bills and to fill the gap left by fossil fuels as they’re phased out thanks to climate change pledges.”

  1. this would take decades to build, it is much better to start invest much more in solar and offshore wind and exchange energy during the night

  2. So all these talks about nuclear, gas and coal.
Meanwhile goverments have been preparing silently to replace natural gas with hydrogen. Wich theoretically can be implemented today by slightly introducing hydrogen on the same gasnetwork that’s connected to housing.

It starts with the introduction of 1% hydrogen and 99% natural gas wich most if not all gas furnaces can easily cope with. Steadily increasing hydrogen in that mix as more and more furnaces are being replaced with actual hydrogen furnaces.

It would sever our depency for Russian gas tremendously and since its a cleaner burn it further decreases pollution. And it really only needs small changes in our current infrastructure to implement and scale up.

The winning of Hydrogen can be done with solar or wind energy for example so its a perfect way to build up reserves when those renewables are at their maximum production capacity.

If anyone is interested Marco Alvera-the hydrogen revolution is a good book about the topic wich gives a good explanation in depth without overcomplicating things. One of the few books about it where you don’t need a degree in engineering to actually understand it.

  3. Fantastic to see more EU countries adopting realistic plans to decarbonize instead of following the German failure.

  4. Italian right wing before: the Italian left wing is submissive to the French (insert a load of conspiracy shit here) and they serve the French interests

Italian right wing now: let’s build nuclear plants

I wonder who would build those plants if the Italian right wing had their say?
