  1. >This week, state-owned Tauron – Poland’s biggest supplier of electricity, with over a third of the market – wrote to its customers to inform them that 59% of electricity costs result from EU emissions allowances and a further 8% from EU requirements on renewable energy and energy efficiency.

And most of it is paid directly to the polish government….idiots

  2. Tauron’s largest shareholder is the government, bulk of the board is PiS (current Polish governing party) politicians/their family/close associates.

PiS [sold 4.4 billion Euro](https://demagog.org.pl/wypowiedzi/rzad-krytykuje-system-handlu-emisjami-polska-zarobila-na-nim-25-mld-zl/)-worth of emission rights within ETS to finance their social polices (500+, 13th pension, etc.). None of this money was spent on the goals Poland negotiated its (very high) emission allowance for – investing in the the alternative sources of energy to coal and gas powerplants in order to decrease our dependence on them and stop with all the deaths caused by the Europe’s highest air pollution.

So they fucked up big time, and now all the costs are taken by the population, and all the blame is shifted to the EU.

And then people have balls to tell me that PiS is not trying hard to achieve Polexit.

  3. Now it can be clearly seen that this whole emission trading scheme impact on the climate is negligible if any, but it’s impact on prices is very big. Or is it the goal, to make energy, cars and things like that luxury commodities only for the select few?

  4. Lots of half-truths and manipulation in this comment section. People push the false narratives and parrot information they don’t understand.

This is math problem. Not a political one.

  5. You can love or hate Germany and Poland goverments but they are elected by there people, they are doing whats best for there people in contract from people sitting in Brussel which are elected by no one and doing some shady business for God knows which giant company.
