  1. He could have been playing PlayStation in Hague prison instead

  2. He was sentenced by a Dutch court, but not by The Hague, which refers to the ICC. The court that sentenced him was based in Amsterdam.

  4. Tasting of own medicine?

I have no sympathy for this person. He should rot in prison. He is not there because of his crimes but because he showed interest in standing against Putin in the elections.

  5. You’d think this guy would be the sort of person Russia would parade around as a modern day hero, but he is harshly critical of Russia’s conduct of the war in Ukraine (in that he thinks Russia isn’t doing well enough) and could have rivaled Putin in popularity so off to prison he goes lol. Certified Russkiy moment.

  6. I watched his bs talks translated few times last year and shit.. he was throwing really some hard shit against Kremlin. I was surprised he did not “fell from a window” in 2022 or 2023 like few others.

I guess people behind him were strong back then, but something changed at some point so they charged him, but he is alive… at least for now.

  7. It’s not just 4 years in prison but his whole trial has shown how inactive his supporting base is in civic life. Next trial to watch is Udaltsyov’s one who is dissatisfied with the government yet supportive when it comes to conflict with Ukraine.

  8. It’s a show to please the west. He will be released after a weak and a get a medal.

  9. How the hell do you fit an entire airplane in a court?

  10. 4 years is nothing, at least 15 with solitary confinement and hard labour would have been more apt.

  11. What I want to know is _how_ he managed to shoot down a Boeing 777 in court.

  12. He shot down a Boeing 777 in court?
    How did he manage that?

  13. Russian domestic politics have changed. Ultra nationalists are no longer free to speak. Nazis were the last political camp that had the freedom of speech in russia.

  14. Russian here.

What he was actually imprisoned for was pushing a nationalist agenda and criticizing the Russian war efforts in Ukraine.

Fundamentally, Putin is balancing between the nationalists (who call for more war escalation) and the liberals (who call for peace), without letting either side take the lead. Both sides had their leaders imprisoned and any movements crushed.

The most dangerous thing for the government is not anti-war people, it is people who can act independently, regardless of whether they are pro-Putin or anti-Putin.

  15. Also he is a guy who started all this shit in Ukraine in 2014. His group successfully occupied a town and in Donetsk region, and he being a russin officer, was leading a team.

  16. Wait he shot down a 777 in court too? How?😲😲🫢🫢
