Context: His logic is “Madrid’s offer is less than Bayern’s renewal offer, hence he renews”
He isn’t considering the 18M demand by davies in his logic and Bayern’s resilience of not paying him that much. Bayern don’t want to give him that money so he will most likely join Real Madrid.

My expectation is that he’ll use Bayern’s offer as leverage to go to Madrid.
Also 18M for a fullback is way too much, and he isn’t that good defensively. I think he is at the same level -or maybe even not as good- as he was 4 years ago, which is weird considering all the managers he’s been with and the fact he plays most matches for club and country.
In 2020 would have expected him to become a more rounded player (like Alaba did back in his LB days) but it hasn’t happened.
We have to extend him if possible. Pay the man… not because he is very good, but because there isnt many options on this position in the world that would be better. Defensively he is pretty bad. Makes up for it with his speed. The question is how long can he sustain that?! sadly he hasnt improved for years. i feel like he is 1 injury away from beeing irrelevant. But we should keep him and fix other needs first. actually he is a nice guy and probably good for the locker room as well.
