Its all soundbites as usual. Where is the outrage for the convicted paedo who keeps his peerage?!
The past 10 years has seen convention after convention broken.
We used to have a Parliament where people did the “honourable” thing and followed convention etc. But since the 2015 election it’s been pretty much them saying “Oh, a convention, but do I have to follow it? If not then we won’t because we’re desperate and shameless”. I actually think it got turned up and passed any kind of point of return whern Trump got elected. Ever since then the ‘rules’ are not followed.
Wesminster needs signifiant reform in terms of oversight and rules. Labour are proposing to do something but I fear it’ll be watered down and won’t be enough. It’ll at least be something though.
