Prince Edward Comes Face to Face With Oldest Tortoise

Prince Edward has met the oldest living land animal during a royal visit to the remote South Atlantic island of St Helena.

Edward was left in awe when he saw Jonathan, a 192-year-old giant tortoise, who has outlived seven British monarchs.

The Duke of Edinburgh’s visit was extra special as his late mother Princess Elizabeth, later Queen Elizabeth II, also met Jonathan in 1947!
