Not to excuse, but perhaps because her name isn’t widely known, but most people have heard of SNL, and her recent transition is the reason for the whole trip, so it isn’t that far fetched that a short hand (and awkward) ID of her would be used for the headline.

If we want trans people to be accepted in society why do we go out of our way to label them as a “trans writer” in a headline, kinda feels demeaning. Like why does that even need to be mentioned, just put the name.

For everyone complaining about the name not being in the headline, no one knows the name Harper Steele.. so they say SNL trans writer because that’s interesting enough for a click, and then you learn who Harper Steele is… it’s a win-win.
