  1. Plus what was written off from the PPE stockpile before it hit.

  2. That’s £10bn of our money sitting in some cunts pocket and the government is doing nothing about it 😡

  3. Naked grift, not even bothering to disguise their corruption at this point. Just looting the country and handing as much of it over to their mates as they can manage before they lose power.

  4. We need laws which cap profits during national emergencies. This whole PPE just shows the private sector cannot be trusted to self regulate itself

  6. Labour winning the next election is not enough of a consequence. For decades the Tories have known that there is no plausible opposition and therefore no reason to be a competitive party by doing things like… I dunno.. not handing £10bn to their friends.

We all know what’s going to happen next: 4-5 years of Labour which will fall apart for the same reason it fell apart last time: there is no unity and the party is split between morons and corporate shills. Then we will have another decade of Tories again, emboldened by Labours failure.

Kier needs to provide consequences for this £10bn amongst other things

  7. HoW WiLl LaBoUr AffoRd £28Bn InVeStMeNt.

Meanwhile they piss another £10bn up the wall.

  8. Remember this the next time people complain about government spending on welfare and the NHS.

  9. Yet the Government doesn’t think this is a problem.
In what other European country could £10billion handed to Tory mates on the VIP fast track be written off so quietly?

  10. Could’ve used that money for when Russia attack… but that’s none of my business.

  11. Not a massive surprise. PPE has a useby date. Once it’s past that it has to be destroyed and the value is written off. What would people prefer? The Government potentially not buying enough and it running out?

That’s the problem with having stockpiles. You’re constantly throwing away stuff you didn’t use and having to pay to replace it.

And then there’s the ‘unusable’ stuff. FFP3 masks were nearly impossible to get hold of at one point of the pandemic, so the Government bought a load of FFP2 masks instead. Not quite as good but far better than no mask, so they might have been vital. Nowadays no one will use them as we’ve got plenty of FFP3s. So might as well dispose. Sure, technically a waste, but bought for an incredibly good reason.

There was absolutely some fraud when it came to PPE. That should be dealt with and the money repaid. But most of what is being described is just the reality of trying to get hold of stuff in desperately short supply when we *couldn’t fail*.

  12. In the mania, we’ve have had 20bn, and sacrificed a roll of toilet paper each.

  13. How much should the value have gone down by? There’s clearly less demand for it now.

  14. Just for some perspective as to how much that really is

    1 billion = 1 thousand million

    10 billion = 10 thousand million or

    10,000,000,000

    It’s beyond obscene

  15. Killing the public whilst creaming the profits.

Absolutely convinced that the “missing” WhatsApp messages that neither Johnson or Sunak can find directly tie them to profiting from this.

What else could it be when the shown messages say “just let them die” it has to be something atrocious!

  16. Im absolutely positive that MP’s lined their own pockets with this scandal. i think there should be thorough investigations into mp’s bank accounts and offshore accounts too.

  17. It’s not written off, some lucky sod got paid that £10 billion. I bet they’re mates with the tory scums.

  18. The BBC and others are partly culpable for overplaying the seriousness of Covid to the public with massive exaggeration of the rare fatalities amongst under 75s.

  19. Not just nearly £10bn, **£9.9bn of £13.6bn**. 72% of the £13.6bn spent.

  20. Not one mention of the nurse-led campaign to reduce the amount of PPE held in hospital inventories for “sustainability”. This was a thing in the years leading up to the Great Covid, and oh how they patted themselves on the back for drawing back on the amount of gloves, aprons and masks that were held, and oh how they said they were saving the planet.

And it never ever got mentioned again, because NHS nurses are never, ever, ever wrong.

  21. Just remember this when you are complaing about free school meals or youth programmes and how we can’t afford them…

  22. Could settle the doctors pay asks for a decade. Instead it was literally wasted making a few bastards people rich.
