Yo my dad just signed up for pennie… got for 15.10 a month and way better health care than his shitty jobs. He’s 64 and last six years after getting laid off from the job he was at for around 18 years has been a little in and out of jobs and he settled on this one after getting let go of boilers union job during Covid.
He was nearing retirement so getting let go wasn’t a big deal he’s taking security a pension and looking for part time work. I digress, we would’ve been fucked with either every expensive health care for him or something that just secured the max out of pocket from being too much. It was simple, took one day for him to get insured and he got a pretty solid deal in PA (assuming heavily subsidized since he just lost his job). It was probably go up some once he’s getting some social security and part time work but I don’t expect for it to be a ton. It will most certainly be more affordable with better deductions and max out of pocket than his employer one.
Best part is this man has shit on Obama care since its inception (big talk radio rush guy) and has convinced my mother into thinking it was an atrocious policy because our plan got more expensive. I’m not saying it didn’t make plans more expensive because it probably did, we also have been trending upwards with or without Obamacare. I texted my mom the healthcare policy was ACA laughing about the irony.
Not saying the plan doesn’t have its drawbacks but just another way that my lower middle class family has benefited from some of the “Dem policies” as my dad refers to them as. I’m not saying he’s gotta agree with them on everything just so ironic that man that’s demonized this and will vote for people that want to repeal ACA, Pell grants, SS, chips, WIC (all programs my family has used at points when we have fallen on harder times). Just got a laugh out of it. Even after he’s done he will talk about how it’s a stupid policy that needs to be removed. Information bubbles are beautiful things.

They probably aren’t citizens! And the rest of us are paying for this program and can’t afford our own insurance! Health care for all was more affordable without this!
Crazy how much better it would’ve been if Republicans didn’t gut Obamacare. It’s a shell of what it once was going to be.
