Our council decided to shut our road completely for a week to resurface (one half)…then reopened it, this is part of the half that they didn’t do.

  1. Just needs some Coco Pops in the puddles for that homely feel.

  2. cant show the bad half without showing the new good half

  3. They’ve done a decent job on that resurfacing to be fair. I’ve seen worse.

  4. Makes perfect sense. The resurfaced half will now drain water towards the non-fixed half, which will get worse. And inevitably water will then find its way underneath the fresh tarmac, putting them back to square one when that becomes loose again from the freeze/thaw.

  5. I think, statistically a road gets resurfaced once every 70 years. So enjoy what they did do!

  6. According to my local councillor it costs £1000 per metre to resurface. They did 100 metres of our road last year which conveniently stopped right outside my drive.

  7. Impressive that that they attempted a resurface during winter. That’s often unheard of here

  8. Councils and road ineptitude is insane to me. Our council did a big job resurfacing a main road (well no, they paid someone to do it since everything is contractors now). But they stopped right at the border with another council. I asked the workmen and they work for BOTH councils, but apparently joined up thinking to do the whole job in one hit (cheaper for tax payer) didn’t happen. Eventually the other council will get the shitty bit of road on their side done, but the costs to us are higher and it’s just insane -_-

  9. Well they’re not going to fix what isn’t broken, plenty of life left in that road 😅😭

  10. I was driving through Eastern Europe and noticed that only fixing as much of the road as was needed, and leave the rest to rot, was standard practice.

Nice to see things improving, we will get to ‘Ex-soviet low GFP country levels of street repair’ in no time!

  11. It looks like none of those have been reported. Everyone needs to get on fixmystreet.co.uk. That’s when they’ll do it because they won’t have the get out clause.

  12. My council is also shit, my street hasn’t been redone in 15 years and it’s so shit to drive on.

  13. Speaking as someone who’s in this industry. I promise this isn’t ineptitude from the people in the office or people on site. We see what you see. The issue is budgets, and allocation of budgets.

It’s frustrating being on our side and I know people will have had multiple arguments about this choice.
