    Regarding the symbol, the first time I saw it was connected with the [1990-1991 student protests (and student school occupation)](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1990%E2%80%931991_student_protests_in_Greece), but I’d say it generally now means any kind of protest against the government or anarchism?

    The symbol is indeed the [international squatters symbol](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Squatting) as others have said, but I’ve also seen it reversed, as a sharp “s” instead of a “n”.
