‘The NHS sold out its staff’: Doctors whose lives were devastated by long COVID to sue health service

  1. I stopped clapping after 2 weeks because it felt like a slap to the face.
NHS staff to be paid fairly and respected, especially after everything they did during the pandemic. Whilst most of us sat on our asses.

And they were given fucking bin liners as PPE.

  2. Is it not somewhat ironic when you consider the swathes of doctors on their subreddits calling long Covid “SLS” (shit life syndrome) and accusing anyone who has it of being a whinging hypochondriac? I really feel for the doctors in the article but calling out the NHS without pointing out that their colleagues are just as bad is somewhat of an own goal.

I’ve had some kind of bug for the last week or so and it’s truly knocked me for six (might be Covid, might not be, who knows), I can’t imagine having long Covid because I’m a drama llama about this cough – but, the silver lining, when I say I have some kind of bug and have a cough and feel dizzy, no one tries to tell me it’s all psychological.

  3. Good! The NHS is a really shitty place to work. No staff, no budget, managers at the top who are basically politicians. They go on about “healthy and caring work environment” but then random targets appear out of nowhere and the rely massively on good will.

  4. Fuck the NHS, some of the execs need to be severely punished

  5. During covid, we were working 14-hour days, 7 days a week, for £0 extra pay, and no one cared.

When our staff asked for more money to bring wages in line with inflation it was treated as a pay raise request. And the strikes happened.

It’s shameless behaviour when the NHS underpays for every possible role in any given position. Whether it’s software developers or nurses who work for the NHS. You will ALWAYS get more elsewhere with better conditions.

  6. The same doctors who sent me to a psychiatrist about my POTS? I fucking hope so.

  7. I’d love for them to all get paid fairly but where will the money come from? It’s a public service and as much as I hate the Tories what is the alternative solution?

  8. These doctors aren’t doing themselves any favours or the NHS. Surely you knew this risk when you became a doctor or nurse that you may be at risk of becoming unwell.
