The quality of water in some parts of the country is shocking. I was in Bundoran last year. I brought a glass of water to bed. The next morning, the whole room smelled of bleach because of the amount of chlorine in the water.
“Uisce Éireann said it noted the ruling, adding that “public health is our top priority”.”
Uhm, obviously it isn’t.
Yeah but, that’s just like…EUr _opinion_ man.
How are we always worst for X, Y and Z across the board in the EU
There is no viable reason to add fluoride to the water. Those that think so are made out to be tinfoil hat wearers. We have toothbrushes, good access to dentists and it’s in toothpaste. While we get a “safe” amount, the results of too much causes all sorts of health problems and low IQ and development in children.
> Ireland was taken to court by the European Commission for allegedly failing to ensure that THMs in drinking water did not exceed the minimum values outlined in the directive.
> Trihalomethanes (THMs) are the result of a reaction between the chlorine used for disinfecting tap water and natural organic matter in the water. At elevated levels, THMs have been associated with negative health effects such as cancer and adverse reproductive outcomes.
Jesus.
That’s why I bought Brita On Tap water filtration for €65, massive difference in taste/chlorine removal and what not…filter is for 600 litres of water, and there are two additional modes for unfiltered water.
Tap water in parts of leixlip kildare is like slurping a puddle outside a heavy metals refinery
There has been next to no investment in our water infrastructure for 30 years (before irish water) under previous governments. People didn’t want to pay for water and guess what we didn’t spend money on water infrastructure.
Know someone who does some kind of engineering work on water pipes that need replacing via local authority.. he said the things he has seen .. he’d never ever ever drink tap water after seeing it Also why do we have flouride in our water, it’s an industrial waste product .. when else is water being mandatorily medicated normal?? It’s in our toothpaste.. doesn’t need to be ingested
they make us pay for the water industry, yet they can’t uphold their end.
We were pretty much scammed at this point
I’m on a boil water notice since last fucking March. I go through 30 ltrs of water from Lidl a week between myself and the madra
The quality of our rivers is disgraceful. The government have done nothing to combat pollution
I don’t think the water in Cork City was nearly as bleachy before Uisce Éireann / Irish Water took over. The old city council setup seemed to be far less stinky.
It’s like they went TOTALLY overboard with the cholrination.
No body is held accountable.
Start firing some people at the top or even Jail and shake those public workers up.
I suppose they’ll do something to help us fix that, right?
Right?
…
You mean they’re going to leave us with even less money to find it in the future!?
Well, most protested against the water charges. Reap what you sow and all that.
