I kinda feel sorry for the kid that hit them. 16 and has to live with the fact he killed two people.
Wear your seatbelts folks. RIP to the humans, chihuahua and squirrel.
Ah man, Deliverance is one of my favorite movies of all time. I’ll never forget that moment where Ned Beaty’s getting ruined, crying and squealing offscreen, and then Jon Voight fearfully raises his eyes from shock to the situation at hand and notices Herbert Coward staring at him with that toothless grin. It’s terrifying, and he was perfectly cast for that moment.
That’s sad. Also what an unfortunate last name
No seatbelts, but a chihuahua and a squirrel. He died as he lived.
Squeal like a pig
“Squeal like a pig”
In the picture for the movie in the article, that’s not Herbert Coward. It’s Bill McKinney.
I used to attend the church he went to in Haywood. He always had his squirrel on his shoulder in services. Seemed like a nice guy that was well liked. RIP Cowboy
The photo in the article is captioned wrong. The actor with the arrow in him is Bill McKinney, not Herbert Coward.
They guy with him in that scene, Bill McKinney, was a professional actor.
Reynolds remembered Coward from a wild west show he did in South Carolina. Coward showed up naturally looking the part. John Boorman thought Reynolds had told him how to dress.
