  1. Woohoo! This is good in it beats the average inflation rate of 3.2%-4.x%! I’m thankful!

  2. I look forward to the clickbait headlines every time an installment of this pay agreement comes in “TDs in line for yet another pay increase” and the comments from simpletons unaware that public sector pay agreements include TDs.

  3. Can they claim the overnight subsistence rate for that?

  4. Well inflation has been running very high, and it is coming down but still running – and remember, inflation this year is built on top of last years inflated number. Seems sensible to do a big increase over two further years (where there will be more inflation).

  5. This helps with my fixed costs though- my mortgage, contracted services, etc. so yes, food costs do increase to match, but I think overall this is good. An extra €7.5k/year (or €4k after taxes) helps a bit.

We can throw the extra couple hundred a month at student loans.

  6. Great to see the support for public sector workers on here.

If anyone here remembers Boards.ie, the place would be foaming at the mouth over this. Public sector workers seemed to be their particular bugbear.

  7. Probably going to get downvoted for wanting the best for the nation

Imo…any pay increases in public service need to he tied to productivity metrics and worker performance being measured by some sort of relevant kpi’s

From my interactions with the public service many people are on a lifelong ‘work to rule’ & have no interest in actually improving efficiency.

Yes there are some departments that are way too overworked (front line staff and gardai) but the big issue is red tape, consultsnts. Middle managers and sloppy accountability.

At least make it possible to fire people for poor performance ffs..

Is is really too much to ask that public sector workers have to make an effort and be held accountable?

  8. That’s 2.9% a year which is awful.

To give you an idea, mobile companies increase their terms 3.9% then plus what the current inflation is.

    Council tax increases 5% yearly.

Energy bills are more then 5% so is food.

It’s crazy how cheap we are to workers. Pay them more.

We throw away money for wars and private contacts to mates.

  9. There are about 20 thousand managers and administrators in the HSE. They have been making absolute balls of our health service and now they are celebrating their hard earned pay increase. Well done lads, next time I’m on a trolley wondering where all the budget goes at least I’ll know your pay packets are beating inflation.

  10. Good for them. I know it won’t, but ever the optimist I’d hope some private sector managers take fucking note of this stuff being in the news. Hard to get a pay rise from anyone these days. Then wonder why nobody is loyal to them anymore and leave!

  11. Imagine the pay increases they could get if they got rid of the dead weight in the public service… ie the managers who do fuck all….
