A volcano that erupted in southwest Iceland for the second time in less than a month set fire to several houses in the fishing town of Grindavik, some 40 kilometres (25 miles) south-west of the capital Reykjavik. Molten lava flows reached the outskirts of Grindavik around noon on Sunday, setting three houses alight, although the town was evacuated earlier and there was no immediate danger to people. Defensive barriers have been built to the north of the town to divert the flows of lave away.

  2. Not very good on the facts there.
    Grindavik was evacuated and that includes 3800 people, not just "dozens of residents".
    Also, the defence wall did a fantastic job, although nobody could have foreseen cracks opening up even closer to the town…

  3. Natural disasters are increasing rapidly. We all need to be prepared to face them. Learn what to do in different disasters, prepare emergency evacuation backpacks, and at least a week's supply of food and water in case of a loss of electricity, water and heating.
    But the most important thing everyone needs to do now is to start talking openly about our biggest problem – climate and the true cause of its change – 12,000-year cosmic cycle.
