Shocked, I am, that the oil and gas industry lied about how much pollution they were putting out.
Not surprising – oil sands are just about the dirtiest energy source in existence.
I’m from Alberta, home of the infamous Tar Sands and I highly doubt anything will come of this.
Our premier (governor) has been catering to the oil companies and handing them millions in tax payer dollars for her whole term in office. She’s a conspiracy theorist, anti-vax moron and just last night she hosted a big meet and greet with none other than Tucker fucking Carlson.
I wish I were joking.
Canada. Just like America. Money before the environment.
Tar pits were very common during the dinosaur period.
Also from our friendly Albertans neighbours:
“In 2021, Alberta’s methane emissions were officially estimated to equal 15 megatonnes of carbon dioxide a year. That adds up to the yearly emissions of three million cars, according to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
If Johnson’s paper is right, the correct equivalent for Alberta’s emissions would be closer to 4.5 million cars.
The paper also concludes that the methane is coming from significantly different sources than government and industry think it is. Venting from tanks accounts for about a quarter of such emissions, instead of the three per cent that official sources say.”
Nice picture on the article of the natural leach of the tar sands, where the oil is literal oozing out of the ground, better go after mother nature for the environmental disaster she is causing, thankfully humans are extracting it out of the ground and reinstating it into a viable environment when they are done
And this is the poisonous stuff they want to pipeline transport over our pristine aquifers to Gulf Coast refiners.
6.3 percent or 6300 percent higher ?
Moro late to hold a human accountable. The damage is done. Vengeance is still worth it. But, hey. We’re all kinda complicit.
If you can’t trust an oil man, who can you trust?
need that oil sadly
The residents of Fort Chippewan have been dying of a rare cancer that’s only this common in their area for over a decade. The fish themselves are deformed and inedible. I watched the documentary in middle school; a doctor went there and found a correlation between the toxins in lake athabasca from the tar sands and the diseased fauna. The government forced him to close his practice for “causing undue alarm”. This country is a business, and a disgustingly inhumane one.
It’s ok, alberta will pay for a propaganda LED truck to drive around downtown Ottawa
Fuck Fort Mac.
let’s get a convoy up there to block that shit off
