I graduated from a university in Germany in August 2023 but have been unlucky in getting a full-time job so far. Since I do not have a student status anymore, I believe my student visa is not valid anymore (even though it, along with my student work permit, expires in 2025). As a result, I sent an email to the foreign office in my city for visa extension or a job-search visa, and they asked me for some masters and insurance related documents. At the time, I had not received my masters degree from the university, so this process was delayed. After recently receiving it by post, I have now sent all the documents they had asked and am waiting for their reply. I understand that the officials at foreign office are very busy, but this process (of to-and-fro emails) is taking a long time, and my financial situation is now not so good.

* Firstly, my family is going to support me financially for next few months but I am not so sure about this “Declaration of Commitment”, as my family members live in my home country.
* Secondly, does anyone have any information on how much money should I have in my german account to be able to get this visa extension? How many months of living must be secured? Like 6 months, 12 months..?
* Moreover, is there a way to get this extension faster than by exchanging information and documents over email?
