If joining NATO requires you to bow down to despotic regimes, that says all you need to know about NATO;
Sweden is already protected by being in the EU, that’s 90% of NATO member states already comitted to protecting them if attacked.
That makes joining only a symbolic act, and definitely under no circumstances worth bending the knee and giving up sovreignty to despots like Orban or Erdogan
