I put the resident permit on the windshield clearly shown and I received a fine with the Remarque “ vignette non valable”. What did I do wrong?

  1. Did you park in livraison? If yes, you can only park there between 18h00 and 08h00. If no, then you’re in the wrong sector and you can only park 2h with your white disk. If you have a vignette from some other city then you can’t park for free at all.

  2. Basically there are three rules/requirements:
    (1) for unlimited parking, the vignette should match the sector – in this case GA. Otherwise (i.e., you have a different sector), you have 2 hours of free parking and you need to leave a dial next to your vignette that indicates the time you’ll leave the parking slot.
    (2) The vignettes expire in 1 year and you need to renew at the commune – check “valid until”.
    (3) The plate number on the vignette should match the one on the car.

  3. So the round sign means “no parking”. The smaller signs below specify when and for whom parking is not allowed:

    1) For truck, parking is not allowed, except for working days between 8:00-18:00;

    2) For all other vehicles that aren’t trucks, parking is not allowed on working days between 8:00-18:00, except for those who pay the parking fee (this is indicated by the red picture of a parking meter) and leave within 5 hours;

    3) If you have a resident’s vignette of this sector (GA), rule 2 doesn’t concern you and you can park here on any day for any duration (note: I think technically you’re not supposed to be parked in the same spot in the street for more than 24 hours);

    4) if you have a resident’s vignette of a different sector, you can still park here as if you were a resident, but only for 2 hours. You need to put your parking dial under the windshield and indicate the time you’re going to leave. This is not written on the sign but it is on your parking dial.
