Hi Everyone!

A couple years back, I purchased an awesome knit wool scarf from the Kolaportið in Reykjavik. It looks handmade (since there are no tags) and it’s been very sturdy and warm, realiable for cold Chicago winters.

However, the scarf has a unique design: it’s hollow and there is an opening in the middle. I’m not sure what the design is meant for. I mean, at this point, is it even a scarf?

Please let me know what I’m missing. I love it but I’d love to know if it’s meant to be used differently, thanks!

  1. this looks like a handmade knitted scarf from Iceland indeed, at least from the pattern it looks icelandic

  2. Looks as if someone intended to make sleeves for a sweater, but then made some mistake and just made a scarf instead. Never seen anything like it.

Or maybe meant as sleeves for someone who runs hot but gets cold hands.

  3. That’s not a scarf no lol
it covers your arms and goes over your shoulders.
