Nearly 40% of Covid hospital cases in England now patients primarily being treated for something else, latest figures show

Well isn’t that a completely pointless bit of info we have just received
Obviously people getting Covid in hospital while being treated for something different, or being admitted to hospital for something else and subsequently finding they’re Covid + is problematic in it’s own way for hospital management. So these incidental Covid hospitalisations shouldn’t be completely dismissed.
However, when considering the severity of disease caused by Omicron those incidental cases absolutely must be dismissed as they aren’t severe enough to warrant hospitalization.
I’ve no idea why throughout this pandemic we have always used the criteria to make everything seem worse than it is and make us look worse compared with other countries.
Seems like really good news to me.
