Slovak here, that is his kind of populistic politics – he says something at home and does the opposite abroad. The new thing is that he got much more extreme in recent years because he had to get to power “any means neccessary” because he and his criminal organization are on verge of prison. He was a political corpse couple years ago so his tactic was to steal all the voters from far right, pro russian, extremestic parties.
TLDR: he is a big opportunsitic piece of shit and should be in jail
For people who don’t know his MO, he’s basically on one hand appealing to his voters on domestic political scene, where most of his electorate is strongly pro-russian, antivax, typical conservative.
On the other hand, everytime he travels to Brussels, he would promise our western allies blue from the sky, if he could. In other words, he knows where the money is coming from, and even tho he might make spicy statement here and there, he will never go against NATO and EU.
That’s how he always was during his past, and it seems this time won’t be any different.
He’s just an opportunistic bitch, and says whatever brings him the most votes and get him to PM chair.

Populists politicians of all ilks, just say whatever will get them the result they are looking for. Whether that is getting elected, or getting a deal. They are just a propoganda mouthpiece. Donald Trump is a perfect example of this. This is why you should never vote for them, because they will tell you just what you want to hear just to get your vote, then do whatever the heck they want! Their primary motivation is greed for money and power! Voters are just a tool to get that power!

Apparently, back in 2009, when his country was in a crisis due to gas from Russia being stopped because of a divergence between Ukraine and Russia, he desperately called both sides to restart the gas for Slovakia, so he went to Kiev where Ukrainians humiliated him and then to Moscow where the Russians made him a nice welcome and released the gas for Slovakia. That’s all.

Many of his cronies are waiting for the court’s decision, therefore distracting attention from the liquidation of special courts. His friends also do arms trade, so as a state he stopped helping Ukraine but privately enables the trade.
