  1. I thought we were allowed to go for a drive to test our eyesight?

  2. If this guy killed younger people would he have got so long in prison?

I feel like cause it was two pensioners, the class of people the uk idolises and treats as its little darlings who do no wrong they’ve sent him down for longer

  3. Only 7 years is an insult to his victims.

The fact he ignored the DVLA & did not warn his insurer should prove intent, to be honest. It’s essentially similar to drink-driving.

We need to stop being a country that falls for every sob story. Someone should have said ‘no, sorry, you can’t drive.’ He should have only been allowed to drive on a race-track.

  4. Maybe it’s time for at least opticians to be able to tell the DVLA when someone’s unfit to drive through eyesight.

  5. If his eyesight is well below the standard required for driving, why is he only banned for nine years?? He should be banned from driving permanently.

  6. Why don’t they ask for an eye test certificate on licence renewal, starts every 10 years for younger drivers then works up to every year as people get older.

  7. Banned from driving for 10 years?

Are the courts really this moronic – he literally can’t legally drive due to his eye sight, why not just out right ban him instead of this arbitrary number?

7 years for two murders as well, judge should be thrown in there with him.

  8. It’s this thing we have in this country that somehow driving is a god given right that needs to be changed ASAP!!! Driving is a privilege and should be taken away from people far more readily than it is AND people who drive without insurance, mot, servicing etc NEED to be sent straight to jail.

I don’t care if you use your car for work…if it’s the tool of your job…fucking maintain it. If there’s something wrong with YOU…hand over your keys

  9. I wish we did something better with eye tests and driving licences. It should be a requirement to have an eye test at least every two years, for everyone who drives. Yearly from retirement age.

  10. If you want to get away (lightly) with murder, do it with a car.
