This only makes sense when you confuse micro and then try to apply it to macro
It’s actually quite a funny take.
Unfortunately, it’s a little bit, to say the least, ignoring the macro economic implications of the US spending less dollars. In order for the value of the dollar to remain stable we do have to spend dollars …
Imagine the household in question decided to make themselves net 0 for the months and their lenders and vendors they went to all started charging in a currency, that their money purchased less of.
Obvious answer: throw a BBQ party on the roof!
When you spend most of the family budget buying weapons to intimidate and bully your neighbors, and a rich person in your household contributes nothing, I would say work on both sides of the problem.
There is only so much you benefit from going into a diet. At some point, you need to exercise, or you will die sick.
Sadly, that isn’t how that works. If you don’t raise the ceiling for ALREADY SPENT MONEY, then the whole house will burn down and take the rest of the world with it.
It all makes perfect sense if you don’t assume the government is there to help anything or anyone. They’re there to keep the poors from revolting and if that means printing fake money, well… that’s easy.
Ah yes.. comparing a govt budget to a household budget.
Will often see “libertarians” roll out this argument and reveal their lack of understanding about how govt finances work.
