Scotland’s Deserts are Turning Green – here’s why

  1. Great video. I’ve seen almost all of Scotland in my years of hiking and he’s spot on. It’s an ecological desert. I’ve watched 100+ herds of deer rip up the land leaving exposed peat so it goes further than even just killing trees.

    However, the core issue isn’t deer. It’s the issue of land ownership. Wealthy elites who profit from the ecological deserts, who resist the reintroduction of predators, who restrict access to their land and who regularly did up grotesque land rover tracks over the hills. We need a reduction of deer yes, but also land hoarders.
