Turning of the Screw: A Shift in Ukrainian Tactics “Losing is not an option, nor is waiting for President Joe Biden to make good on his promise that the “US would back Ukraine for as long as it takes” – especially since that has since devolved into “for as long as we can.” Jonathan Sweet, Mark Toth

The Ukrainian shift in strategy is really promising and cause for encouragement!
More reasons why:
“The one area where Ukraine has an edge, arguably, is in its innovative drone production.”
“Both sides use drones extensively.”
“But Kyiv now appears to have developed technically sophisticated attack models that can fly long distances, striking targets deep in Russia’s rear.”
“The Russians seem increasingly worried. The oil and gas industry – which fuelled Russia’s comeback on the world stage – now looks like an achilles heel.”

Excellent read from Owen Matthews:
“Ukraine’s new strategy hits Russia where it hurts”

It’s certainly time to turn the screw!!
BUT HOW!???
“Approaching the third year since the full-scale invasion, Ukraine says over 374,520 Russian soldiers have been “eliminated” – but merely killing more Russian soldiers will not win the war.”
“Over the course of the war Ukraine has put on a clinic in ingenuity and multi-domain operations – keeping Russia off-balance, particularly in their execution of the deep fight.”
“When Putin and his generals attempt to focus the fight in one area, Zaluzhny has turned the screw elsewhere on the Kremlin.”
“Zaluzhny’s approach is as simple as it is genius: keep Putin off-balance by staying one step ahead of him and hitting his forces from ever-evolving directions.”
“Here and everywhere – providing no sanctuary for the Kremlin’s war machine or the generals directing them.”
Any insights into how best to turn the screw now to defeat Putin??!
American politics at its best, long live Trump!
This was always the answer. Forget American weapons and the strings attached to them.
Too bad Ukraine will have to make this shift without a cushion of US support in ’24.
Wow. You’ve been handed hundreds of BILLIONS of dollars from the United States. I support Ukraine but don’t bite the hand that fed you. Don’t forget, Russia invaded Ukraine, not the US and not a NATO country. There is not obligation or expectation that you now demand money. You’ve gotten funding since 2014. It started small but it was still funding and supplies in the beginning. That evolved into a blank check at times. At some point, especially after almost 2 years of war Ukraine needs to start producing its own weapons and fighting its own war. I would still like Ukraine to get as much money and supplies as the US can give them, BUT, don’t look a gift horse in the mouth. None of us like Putin but the US also had a lot of financial domestic issues to address also. So slow down on already insulting and making the US your enemy. In one day we could bring you to your knees and have Putin walk across Ukraine if we wanted to… I would have patience if I were you and I’m sure the funding will come back in some form.
Joe Biden isn’t the issue.
Hope you’re not blaming Biden. His hands are tied.
Nobody’s waiting on Biden. It’s the Republican party that your waiting for.
Blame Republicans. They don’t believe in freedom or ACTUAL democracy. Right now they are a cult of the Jim Jones variety. If it wasn’t for them and only them, Ukraine would get every last thing Biden promised. We Americans did not know that republicans were of the Putin variety.
Deepest apologies.
To be honest, the democrats need to find a better contender than Joe Biden. They failed with Hillary against Trump, when it was clear Bernie Sanders was the actual preferred candidate. Now they’re going to fail again, as Trump is expected to win against Joe Biden in the upcoming elections. As trust in the government has slipped due to failures to address the cost of living crisis, and misinformation has become rampant.
2024 is going to see a huge collapse of many countries. There is going to be no rise to power, just the boiling over of dysfunctional governments into conflict. The global economy is likely to fall flat on its’ face.
The outlook is grim everywhere. Humanity is doomed to fall into disrepair.
I guess this is Ukrainian diversifying geopolitical risk in case Biden loses. Because criticizing Biden for the general disappointment of 2023 offensives and delays in US and EU aid sounds like… *cough* bullshit.
Not Biden’s fault. This is all on Republicans.
Don’t blame Joe Biden !!! Tramp controlled GOP congress stalling the funding!!
This really makes me sad and pissed off as an American. I can’t believe this is happening, it seems like a parody, but it is frighteningly real. I wish we could help, and knowing we have the ability to, but politics getting in the way is disgraceful. For all the stupid shit we have used our military power for over the years, and now we balk when a situation happens that is clearly for good. I’m sorry and I wish there was more that I could do. I can vote and write letters, but they need help NOW. Hopefully this acts as a wake up call for people.
It ain’t Biden, it is the traitorous MAGA GOP Putin fluffers. I really hope enough of the American people can see through their screen of utter bullshit they fling everywhere and see them for the malicious cowards that is their true essence and I hope they get eviscerated this election year. They richly deserve it. Biden tried giving them a hardline border deal (which is supposed to be a #1 issue for them), which might’ve allowed aid to Ukraine to progress, but they turned their nose up at it because all they do is in bad faith.
I smell the ugly scent of Russian Trolls in here!
I mean Biden is making good on his promise
And it turned into for as long as we can because he is doing all he can to aid Ukraine and it is not enough
