  1. Jacob Rees Mogg OPPOSES IT?!!??!

He literally caused this to happen.

Here’s our choices because of Mogg .. either inspect the fruit coming in for quality, making it massively more expensive and a shorter shelf life as inspections take time .. or be the dustbin of EU shit fruit which no-one in the EU will buy. Because why not ditch the shit stuff on England (not in EU so 100% legal to sell them any old shite that the EU doesn’t want), they don’t even do inspections so ditching them with the shittiest of shit produce they’ll have no choice but to buy if they want fruit is 100% legal, and slightly funny.

So England, choose one. More expensive than everyone else and lower shelf life, or shittest quality produce in Europe, England as the EU’s dustbin.

This is Brexit. Brexiteets voted for this shit so when they moan about it, it infuriates me.

  2. If only there was something they could have done to prevent it. Oh well, I’m sure we still have turnips.

  3. If anyone wants a link to a source other than a comic for morons, here is ITV’s story on the topic:-

    https://www.itv.com/news/2024-01-25/fruit-and-veg-prices-predicted-to-rise-in-uk-when-new-post-brexit-controls-bite

    In short:-

    >The government is due to start bringing in new paperwork requirements for EU businesses sending animal and plant products to the UK from next week, with physical inspections beginning in April.

    >Border checks have been postponed five times since the EU-UK Trade and Cooperation Agreement came into force in January 2021, due to concerns they would push up prices and fuel inflation.

    >Food importers and Dutch flower growers have already warned the burden of the extra administration will impact the price, choice, availability and shelf-life of goods on sale in the UK.

Given that I have been told multiple times that leave voters knew exactly what they were voting for, why did they vote for *this*?

  4. Why would they do this?

Don’t they know we hold all the cards?

  5. Errr… surely they realised what they were pushing for, voting for and supporting for the last decade?

Or maybe this was just blind hate and they didn’t expect consequences

  6. We have literally been saying this since 2016. The gaslighting from the Brexiteers is breathtaking

  7. Well, it’s about time we went after them bloody vegans, you ask me.

  8. You get what you peddle to the idiots. Not to repeat what the brexitees told us but “deal with it”

  9. Damn if only they could have had a say somehow during the negotiations of these new rules

  10. So people will be panic buying carrots now before next week?

  11. > outrage Tory MPs

The fuck did you think was going to happen? We were goign to take back control of our fruit and veg or something?

    Song and dance bs.

  12. So is a brexiter moaning about brexit and the inevitable consequence of leaving the most lucrative free market. The stupid thing about this is although border checks are an inevitable consequence of brexit this issue is down to the conservative government, once again, not investing in infrastructure and services. It’s more about government incompetence than brexit.

  13. There’s been traffic warnings for next week around Dublin port as trucks without the correct paperwork for Britain will be turned back.

  14. Can somebody tell me just one benefit of Brexit??
    Anybody??
    Hello…

  15. The irony of this coming from the express…

Judging by the comments on that article, their readership really isn’t coping well.

  16. Jacob Rees Mogg: the penny farthing in human form – James O’Brien

  17. Why do we even ask mogg what he thinks? The guy claimed brexit would mean freedoms, cheap clothes, cheap food and no downsides. He now opposes every attempt to deliver his farce by pointing out every option leads to the opposite of what he claimed. Maybe he just didn’t understand what he was voting for…

  18. Well well well, who’d have thought leaving the EU would have consequences. Honestly, everyone who voted Leave owes the rest of us one hell of an apology

  19. Still the guy slurring his words full of carling watching a 24/7 Livestream of the rock of Gibraltar, in case the Spanish try invading, will be happy

  20. Brexit was always about not being held down by EU laws that tries to make the EU a fairer place, so the rich can get richer, while the poor are getting poorer. It’s about greed, and they use the xenophobia as a tool.

  21. Check out the prices on Tesco.ie (Irish) and Tesco.com for the same products, we are getting absolutely fleeced in this country.

  22. When Labour win the GE (as is widely predicted) I think UK will try to undo quite a lot of Brexit much faster than many folk currently think.

Govt is currently doing as much as it can to downplay Brexit damage…but that will change when they lose power. At that point the Labour will blame the Tories for the state of the economy and will need to be pragmatic about reconstruction and growth with our biggest trading partner.

Brexit remains a Tory project – never forget (or forgive) that

  23. Brexit means Brexit 😂

I’m So glad I managed to leave the UK before that shit show took place.

  24. Mogg is a real thicko. Despite his poshness and his high priced education, the man is a fucking plank.
And the fact that he likes to belittle people and spout on about how clever he is shows this.

  25. ” I’ve been wondering what that special place in hell looks like, for those who promoted Brexit, without even a sketch of a plan how to carry it out safely. ”

    – Donald Tusk, Former President of the European Council

  26. Damn, if Tory MP’s could read, they’d be even more cross.

  27. I applied to get an allotment. The waiting list is huge, years even.

  28. I think the brexit vote should apply to your decision to emigrate. If you voted leave, you cannot become an expat. You shat this bed now lie in it.

  29. Shockingly those reports about what Brexit would do, which the Tories chose not to complete would of told us this.

It angers me that the Tories were allowed to do this, as we are the ones who suffer and not the MPs.

  30. We are the only country in history to have voluntarily imposed economic sanctions on ourselves.

This is what it looks like. Not blue passports and ‘taking back control’.
