Vanadium flow. Bruh. This is old technology. In fact, it’s grouped in the RFB (redox flow battery) family with about a dozen chemistry options. Vanadium was one of the first though due to long stability of the chemical species.
Kudos to China for building and using a really really big flow battery though. But let’s do iron or zinc next so it’s less toxic, less expensive and has a wider thermal window.
Edit: I think they may be saying they have a high density design that might work for EVs. TBD. I’m not sure what a superconducting bipolar plate is.
