Russian military reporter describes an interesting FPV tactic: Ukrainians place drones on the road, watch the cameras, and once they notice an incoming vehicle, they raise the drone and let the car drive into it.

  1. Saves the batteries, and lets it loiter on the road a long time.

    Basically a smart mine 🙂

  2. ” …these drones are disguised as small toilets… ”

This will no doubt be a concern for Russian war planners.

  3. It is not easy as you imagine. Just think at the drones which have “antennas” (two wires for the bomb) in front of them. When such drone is landing it is exploding. Maybe they are modifying that “antennas” position, I don’t know but there is a big chance to explode at landing.

Also will be a problem with the signal which means the drone can not be too far from the operator.

  4. Right now, Ukrainian soldiers at the zero line are losing life and limb because of remotely deployed mines behind their positions. Since they can only rotate at night and on foot, they cannot see those in the snow even with night vision. This is a real problem and the only solution seems to be metal detectors.

    Time for payback.

  5. Surprises me it took this long to happen. I was thinking that would be a good way to do it way back when the first FPV drone videos came out. They might not have had the relays and control links to do it then because of line of sight but things have obviously advanced.
