  1. >Earlier this month it was reported that senior Israeli defense officials now assess that Hamas’s Gaza tunnel network is between 350 and 450 miles long, far longer than previously believed.

Imagine the state of Gaza if Hamas had used their brain for good rather than evil…

  2. North gaza being almost completely under Israeli control is reassuring, but the south is a completely different mess.

  3. Original report was 20-40% damage.
So headlines headline by reversing into the worst estimation.

  4. And so it begins. For months the rising death toll has been justified by saying ‘we need to destroy Hamas.’ Now begins the years long trickle of missed goals, inconvenient truths and botched operations that will demonstrate that not only has Hamas not been destroyed, it could **never** be destroyed by these tactics.

It took the US twenty years to break that cycle. I hope to god something has been learned from that and Israel won’t take as long to see the light.

  5. so has sinwar and whoever else been underground this whole time?

    fighting the war as molemen?

  6. Yeah, they need to be heavily using their commando brigades to clear those things out and destroy them. We’ve known how effective tunnels can be since at least WWII with the Japanese and in Vietnam. Israel knows this as well. Bombing wont work.

  7. If Israel was actually as bad as the Hamas propaganda had you believe those numbers would be reversed

  8. Imagine how much nicer it would have been to build a legit subway system, that’s 2/3 of the length of NYCs. Something actually useful to real people, that would improve lives. Of course, if you believe the world isn’t real I guess you don’t care…

  9. So what have they actually accomplished besides getting rid of peoples homes? Sometimes I wonder if the IDF just arnt very good at fighting

  10. Israel cannot completely flood all the tunnels because of the hostages and, contrary to leftwing opinion in the EU, the actually try to avoid war crimes ( unlike Hamas/ the Palestinians) hence the fighting ( lower intensity) will takes many more months .

I honestly don’t see this conflict ending even after a cease fire of say a month or two and an exchange of hostages. Frankly it shouldn’t. Its a terrible tragedy for the Palestinian population ( especially the portion that did not support Hamas) but let not kid ourselves what do you think any Western country would have done after the atrocities of October.

America bombed Afghanistan after 9/11, if October would have happened to American citizens it would hav completely decimated Gaza or occupied it until Hamas was completely destroyed.

  11. If it is true that Hamas’ tunnel network is between 350 and 450 miles long I almost feel respect for their malicious persistence.

  12. maybe if they didnt drop bombs at random and actually targeted their enemy they’d destroy the tunnel network faster.

  13. So much money, resources, and manpower, completely blundered.

  14. Oh no! Clearly Israel must bomb even more residential areas to make sure they really “get the tunnels” 😉

  15. After the ICJ ruling and the “replacement talks” I’m not too keen seeing a possible justification for further bombing of Gaza by Israel and the right-wing thugs in power.

  16. We killed 30k innocent civilians and we are starving millions, for 20% damage to tunnels

  17. So….does this mean the casualties are justified yet then?

  18. So we have a group using hostages and civilians as a shield against an army that repeatedly attacks that group, mainly killing the civilian shield without destroying the supposed threat who is still using their systems fine after 114 days of nonstop bombs repeating that process, while also potentially hitting their own missing hostages in the process.

  19. When you only bomb the surface the tunnels will probably remain. You gotta go ground offense and clear them out. Which would be extremely bloody
