Hey, I’d rather it was Communists running the country too, but Jimmy Carter put paid to that. Now, we have to say that war is good for nobody and so the Afghans need all the help they can get. And we must be so decent that we believe our decent engagement can help the Taliban lighten up too. It’s our only option.

Another bribe for very specific reasons and yes part of it is going to NGOs and part of it will land end up going directly to this new “regime”. Realpolitik in action.

Don’t give Taliban anything until they improve the women’s situation and allows all women/girls to return to school. Also they need to stop with the hand cutting and beheading bullshit.
Remember when during the Syrian civil war people said to help locally in order to prevent migration and such? This is literally doing that. Money is given to neighboring countries sheltering refugees and to international organisations, which supply human aid directly to the population. Of course not everything will reach the population, some will get stolen – though probably less than with the previous government, as this time no money is handed out directly…
