Hi All,

In November 2023 we have noticed mold and water in our bathroom and living room ceiling. Our neighbour below was also complaining about it. Immediately contacted the building management company about it. They sent a technician to check it out, he identified the problem to be in the apartment above us, so everyone one below is affected. I’m living in 1. OG so both EG and cellar below are affected. In my apartment both bathroom and living room are affected. It’s a 2 room apartment.

Two other technicians came since then, the last one installed dryer machines (smelly and super noisy) in both bathroom and living but the problem is still not solved in the apartment above, it’s even got worse on ours (see pics attached). We have a new born kid, so we are very disturbed by the situation. The mold, the noice and the bad ventilation inside the apartment caused by the drayers.

So this month after reading a bit about my rights as a tenant, I sent a letter to the building management company that I will apply rent reduction by 50% for this month and won’t pay in full until the issue is fixed and apartment return to original good state.

I didn’t get any legal advice before doing so, wanted to know your opinions about it in case any of you went through similar experience.

In such cases always get legal advice, it makes it easier if you have to go to court

  2. holy shit, that looks like it could be dangerous to breathe that in.

I would recommend getting a lawyer because I know too many people (including myself) who had to fight lazy landlords into action.

you deserve to live in a health-risk free apartment!
