  2. Similar speculation went on about Zaluzhniy last year. It’s just speculation until there is evidence. Which there isn’t, at this point in time.

    Gerasimov was like, *Fuck this shit!* Rounded up his family and a handful of close allies and commandeered an Aeroflot airliner (one that was still working) and hightailed it to an undisclosed Caribbean island.

  20. It’s wild that so many senior officers die without any sort of acknowledgement within the armed forces. How do you maintain a command structure with people disappearing for extended periods, without any notice regarding who reports to who in their absence? I wouldn’t expect a public notice, but surely something would leak via tg.

    Valery Gerasimov is the Russian equivalent of the US chairman of the joint chiefs of staff. Western intelligence agencies closely monitor him.* They’d absolutely know if he’d been killed.

    Annnnnd… If they knew he’d been killed, they’d be shouting it from the rooftops.

    It’d be a huge blow to Russia’s information warfare campaign. They wouldn’t be keeping it quiet.

    So, regrettably, he is alive.
