  1. The one good thing about Klopp leaving at the end of the season is that we won’t have to hear him complain about the English football calendar anymore.

Just got to get through 5 or so months of 9/11 style documentaries on Klopp and we’ll be free.

  2. Teams play far too many matches in a season across the world. It’s an endless machine and the players are becoming increasingly stretched thin. There’s also a reason why so many Brazilian players burn out before they reach 30, and it has a lot to do with how many games they play in their home country before they even get out of their teens.

  3. 63* If we get to every final which is extremely likely, will be 65 from next year with the two extra UCL games so I don’t know where’s he’s pulled 55 games from….

  4. This is like that mate you have who tells you you cannot possibly be tired because ***he*** wakes up at 4 and works 19 hours day and nobody but him gets to be miserable.

  5. Brazil’s clubs have an absurd amount of competitive fixtures. The league is 38 matches. Some state leagues are 15+ matches if you include playoffs. Serie A clubs come into the Copa Brasil in the third round, but each round from that point on are two legs, so potentially another 10 matches. Copa Libertadores is pretty much similar format to the Champions League current format – 6 Group Stage matches, each round from there is two legs so potentially 13 more matches. Add in a Super Cup or two and it could be 80 or more competitive fixtures. Which of course assumes a club is making every possible final, which is unlikely.

Don’t think its the flex that the Palmeiras coach might think it is. There are too many matches for European clubs, and ridiculously too many in Brazil. That doesn’t invalidate Klopp’s concerns, obviously.

  6. BS. He has 30 players in his squad, and 5 subs per game. Rotate!

  7. I don’t get all the comments in this thread saying there’s too many games a season. Playing twice a week should be the norm. It’s up to the teams management to rotate and rest players.

Most human beings that work don’t have the luxury of taking it easy to manage the more physical days. We’re talking about elite athletes. If anyone can manage the workload it’s them

  8. People should stop criticising Klopp for the reasons he wants to leave. His intense way of management was never going to be seriously long term, a body and mind can’t sustain that. He will most likely have a year off and return to football.

  9. If you climb 20 small mountains compared to climbing the top 5 biggest, it requires so much more work, time and preparation.

  10. “I worked 140 hours this week” good job buddy.

  11. He’s making the comment for attention, so congratulations he’s done a good job.
