The US is being smart. Projecting power (Iraq and Afghanistan) didn’t work in the early 2000’s. Russia and Iran are trying to draw the US into a war somewhere else to distract from their true intentions (Ukraine and Syria/Iraq). The US is being smart by not jumping into these proxy wars around the globe and even showing immense restraint to the point where the rest of the globe is practically begging for the US to act. That way we’re stepping in-line with our allies rather than jumping at every possible target and then taking the blame for being too aggressive and “world police”.
