For the second year in a row, Putin’s TV propagandists predict a cold death for Europeans. However, Russian pensioners, who are supposedly the focus of these broadcasts, don’t have time to watch them. They are busy lighting fires on the streets and chanting ‘We are freezing.’

7. To be fair, the Russian system has always had many problems. District heating systems are often badly maintained and some will fail each year. Often the heating system is too cool, so people supplement the heating by running gas stoves (gas remains quite cheap there). The problem is that when too many do this, the gas pressure drops. As this is mostly outside St Petersburg and Moscow, it isn’t usually so obvious.

   So my question is whether the Ukraine conflict is causing further problems?

9. Wish we could send The truth to elderly russians. Im a carpenter in northern sweden… just a regular guy with my 2 kids.
   Prices have gone up somewhat and The inflation has been noticable… but we still carry on with ordinary life.. work, school for The kids etc.
   Indoor temp in my rental apartment atm is +23C..
   And im about to take a long warm shower after a long day working out there in The cold.
