  1. Telegram and the usual Twitter patriots are voicing their delight at the moment that this woman is being intimidated out of politics.

  2. Divide and conquer in effect. Drew and Leo’s mob again.

  3. Suppose it wouldn’t be worth the gardaí’s time to give people an opportunity to interact with their political representative what, once a month? Nah, too busy guarding McDonald’s and hassling young lads.

  4. Ah shit how am I supposed to get my passport application sped up now?

  5. If there’s a security threat to that extent the Gardaí should have the resources to provide protection. “Gardaí told me to shut up shop” isn’t good enough.

  6. So the lads who want to “protect democracy and Ireland” are actively undermining democracy.

    Colour me shocked.

  7. The political discourse in this country really has gone into the gutter and I don’t blame her for closing her constituency office and I assume most politicians will follow suit. It just further alienates the political class from the ordinary people, the people they are supposed to represent.

What I don’t like, or agree with, is when protests sprung up outside politicians houses or abortion clinics the response was “if you have a grievance or an issue the proper place to protest is outside  Leinster House”.

Now they have defacto outlawed that, the facade of Ireland as liberal democracy is eroding fast.
