“ Rep. Maria Salazar (R-Fla.) on Sunday got called out for routinely taking credit for delivering money to her district — after opposing the bills that provided that money.”
“He(the interviewer) pointed out that Salazar voted against the CHIPS and Science Act, but has celebrated the fact that the South Florida Climate Resilience Tech Hub is being launched in Miami. That hub was authorized by the CHIPS and Science Act. He also noted that Salazar voted against the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, but has touted all the money that law provided to Miami International Airport.
“At the same time that you’re taking credit for the money that you bring back to the district, in Washington, you’re voting against these projects on party-line votes,” DeFede said.Salazar said she forgot about all those votes.”
” “So you don’t want to explain why you voted against things?” DeFede asked.“I really cannot, I mean, right now, and I’m not trying to be a politician, there’s so many bills that I’ve introduced that I know that many of them―” she continued, before DeFede jumped in again.“But these are bills you voted against,” he said.“I understand. But it’s, it’s — OK. Sometimes I vote and sometimes I don’t,” the Florida congresswoman finally said. “But let’s look at the positive.”
Not to worry though, she is just on the Foreign Relations committee and chairs one of its sub-committees. And it isn’t like the CHIPS Act had any bearing on US foreign policy or US national security.
Edit: I wonder if she took the time to read this-
Semiconductors and the CHIPS Act: The Global Context
Edit: I just want to add that there’s nothing more Minnesotan than starting some shit talk with the phrase “oh boy”.
I mean that’s the MO of the GOP. They are all doing this across the country. It’s pathetic. These ads should be played across the country. Embarrass them.
I am betting she did did not vote for anything, so not that hard. Congress only passed less than 10 bills, so again, not hard.
These are the people at work who offer no suggestions on how to do things, do absolutely nothing of value in the office, then take all the credit for your work during their meetings with the boss.
Imagining anyone wanting someone like that in a position of political power is beyond perplexing.
No shame in their game
The media should be calling out this bullshit a lot more. It’s quite uplifting to see this happening, even on just one or two occasions.
She needs to be tested for dementia. Surely she should be able to remember that she would have resoundingly voted NO for any bill supported by Democrats.
But i can tell you how much my nails cost last month.
Who lies more, Russians or Republicans?
I love how she says she’s trying not to give a politician response while desperately doing what most politicians in her spot do and pivot to talking points like Marco Rubio famously did in that debate in the 2016 cycle.
Hands up, anyone who’s surprised.
Anyone?
Bueller?
What’s really sad is that in solid Republican districts, this kind of cynical politics won’t even hurt you.
I mean they only passed like 30 bills last year… Is that a lot 🤔/s
TIL a rare form of dementia is contagious amongst Republican Representatives.
Finally a reporter with balls! Hell yeah
Classic Repug’nican- watched a couple of these sheep trying to take credit for Biden/Democratic party policy’s when they voted no partly-line obo of citizens former 1-term 2-impeached treasonous president WHEN they themselves complain to their own party that they have NOTHING to show for. This congress is the worst ever and they are complicit- don’t let them take credit for anything! They should be treated with shame and contempt!
She’s obviously lying, but forgetting how you voted on an important bill doesn’t make you look any better. Especially when you voted on the wrong side!
Her vote history is 15 nay; 8 yay on ballotpedia. Safe to say she voted nay on something she doesn’t remember based on those numbers alone.
Another dumb, plastic faced MAGA idiot
I really like this DeFede guy. Refreshing.
“You voted against the bill that gave the money that you then signed a check for and handed and had a photo op,” said DeFede, the host of CBS’s show “Facing South Florida.” “The Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2023, right?”
She did vote against that $1.7 trillion government funding bill. It was a massive and memorable bill that almost every House Republican opposed.
Salazar said she couldn’t remember that vote.
“Right now, you have to give me more details,” she said. “But I do know that every time I have an opportunity to bring money to my constituents, I do so. I just did $400,000, but look—”
If she can’t really remember then she must be pretty incompetent OR she is telling porkies.
And she is going to get retirement for the rest of her life and it’s my taxes paying for it. Jesus wept.
Darin LaHood does this a lot. Spineless, worthless representative.
Im so sick of them playing stupid.
It was funny as you could almost hear her thought process: “Okay he’s busted me on trying to take credit for those two bills, I’d better not point out anything else. So what do I say now? He’s done his research. I’ll point out the $40 million…damn! Busted on that too. Oh shit I forgot they’re recording this. I am so fucked. Man I’m never doing another interview again…wait a minute this might, no, umm,..I…uhhh,…hmmm…oh fuck”
It’s not like it was a trick question or anything she shouldn’t have anticipated. All she had to do was come up with some bullshit justification like pols have been doing since time immemorial. “I voted against these bills because I felt they were wasteful for the country as a whole. However, luckily something good was able to come out of them as funds were able to find their way to my district”.
On top of hell unethical and immoral the Republican party is, the current crop of conservatives is just so damn amateur at everything *except* being crooked.
Isn’t that par for the course, for Republicans ?
Rampant Republican dementia, or perhaps she had a connection to the old White House Pharmacy. Glad that she got called to the carpet.
I saw that interview earlier, and it’s painful to watch. It’s the type of interview where YOU feel embarrassed for the person, and you weren’t even there.🤦♂️
Sounds typical
what a lying goblin
I feel like we ought to check Washington for like contaminants in the ground or something, because it seems like people there can’t remember anything.

She knows that her supporters don’t care about her lies. Conservatives have the advantage of being in a cult of lies. They think it’s funny to lie.

These people are so utterly worthless
Tim Waltz, the governor of MN, just called out Rep. Pete Stauber for the same shit and it was glorious.
