There will be 400.000 Russian casualties by 24.0.2024. And untold many civilian lives lost, critical infrastructure destroyed, and Ukrainian defenders killed, wounded, lost. I wonder what, with the benefit of hindsight, the western nations would have done if they had known this is where Putin’s invasion in 2014 would lead to.

I have full confidence in Ukrainian defense and I’m hoping Europe keeps stepping up and giving them everything they need. Hopefully the situation in Avdiivka will stabilize after the Russians used a tunnel or sewer to get behind some of the defenders. I think Ukraine’s allies underestimated Russian defenses and how much gear Ukraine needs for an offensive. Russia used fake trenches, trenches invisible to satellite imagery due to tree coverage and vast minefields to make it extremely difficult to break through without air support. I hope Ukraine holds off on large offensive measures until American congress stops dicking around or America finds a way around the political deadlock. I hope we see more drone strikes inside Russia that disrupts their oil and Arms industries too. It’s crazy how many tanks Russia is losing and not pulling back at all.
For those keeping track at home… Across ALL theatres of war Dec 1941-Aug 1945 (Western Europe, Italy, North Africa, Burma/Southeast Asia, and the Philippines/Pacific islands) US lost around 7000 tanks in total the entire war, and around 420,000 personnel KIA. An absolutely massive and tragic loss of life. A number that still pales in comparison to WW2 losses on just the eastern European front.
(Current RU population is fairly close to US 1942 population FYI)
So Putin’s losses in a “Three-day special military operation” have nearly surpassed in two years what America suffered across 5+ fronts on four separate continents, in four years of total. global. fucking-kill-everything. war.
