Taiwan tells China to ‘face reality’ and respect election results • FRANCE 24 English
Victorious William liar was holding a victory rally only kilometers behind me here giving a speech where he was speaking to thousands of his supporters and only two hours later Beijing had already hit back they repeated what they’ve been saying for quite some time which is that Taiwan is China’s Taiwan
But they also adopted rhetoric that was maybe a little bit more consiliary than people imagined here in taipe uh they said that they believe that the election results demonstrate that the majority of time when people are not on board with the dpp’s policies that’s because the
DPP didn’t manage to win a majority in the Parliament and they also said that they’re willing to work with political parties and groups here to increase exchange and cooperation across the Taiwan straight now the president elect he’s been saying that he’ll continue along the same path as that of his
Predecessor what will be his main challenges do you think what happens next well one of the big challenges that he will face is of course the fact that he doesn’t have a majority in the parliament uh this means that a third party the TPP that has been running they
Might even become the kingmakers and decide whether or not he is able to pass legislation another thing of course is that China is still likely to put some pressure on him maybe even before he is inaugurated now whether that comes in the form of economic pressure or in the
Form of military pressure with military exercises we don’t yet know it depends on his rhetoric between now and may when he becomes inaugurated it also depends on what the United States does and their election that is coming up in November could also shape relations between China and Taiwan
Taiwan on Sunday told China to “face reality” and respect its election result, after voters defied Beijing’s warnings and chose pro-sovereignty candidate Lai Ching-te as president. FRANCE 24’s Jan Camenzind Broomby, reporting from Taiwan, tells us more about what kind of path Ching-te intends to take regarding Beijing relations.

How can the unelected Chinese regime tell the freedom-lovimg Taiwanese 🇹🇼 what to do with their future?
Chinese government obsession with "ownership" of Taiwan is only to distract attention from the fact that they as a dictatorship do not have the legal right to govern main-land China.
It doesn't matter how many times the Chinese regime repeats the lies,
or how angry it pretends to be,
– Taiwan is still an independent country.
Taiwan Democratic and Freedom triumph over Communist China.
Let freedom reign! Congratulations Taiwan on your election! 🎉
Taiwan should be recognised as Republic of Taiwan.
The Taiwanese are going to soon face reality as the Ukrainians did at the hands of the Russians.
Can Taiwan survive without trading with the Main land ?😅 Trade numbers say alot
China should respect the decision of the people
Xinnie Pooh doesn't live in reality.
Respect what? It's China territory . It's China own internal affairs . Period
This reeks of how the conflict with Japan started in 1941. China is the New antagonist in the area… with the same goal, Domination of everything to the shores of Australia.
As long as Taiwan obeyed the US, it will be safe
If free and fair elections happens in China mainland… communist will rout out at this time
Taiwan only needs to look at Hong Kong if they want to see their future as part of mainland China. Yikes 😧
That’s a panic talk… ‘reality’ for China is that Taiwan belongs to Mainland China! The only question is: when is China going to make the move?
Regardless of the election outcome, Taiwan remains an integral part of China.
What does China want in Taiwan? Look at what the China done to west Phil sea it even claims it as thier own eventhough the case was won by the Ph in Int.court as the area belongs to PH. China has got a lesson from Taiwanese this people will fight against oppression ,agression and Invasion from china. They should respect And admit that they cannot just budge in to territories not thier own and claim it. If all the nations they oppressed will fight back ,China will be erased as a nation
China get lost non of business f off from Taiwan business good luck Taiwan and all the best.
LOL..on the contrary, the tension with China will go worse..
Well done Taiwan 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇹🇼🇹🇼👍
Reality is taiwan is a province of China
and yet Taiwan is not a real country. It does not have a seat in the UN.
Congratulations Taiwan. Always Free !!!!
Here we have once again communist despots dictating and trying to impose their interests on a neighbor- Puting invaded Ukrainian twice, and now China is threatening Taiwan- communist best be careful Taiwan won’t be easy.
Facts China should face reality Taiwan is Taiwan China is China
