I’m suprised…. I mean the post office scandal, the Covid enquiries and all that money on PPE. At some point the PM was talking about crypto currency… says it all.

I mean look at the Beeching report and Marples, it’s the same thing which happens now except we have the Internet and easier access to information to join the dots ourselves.
Totally agree! There is just so much corruption we hardly see any growth or governance anymore! There is sloppy work almost every sector right from transportation both buses and trains are in terrible status with half of them having issues so does the roads. Let’s not even start with NHS or education. What is functioning in this country atm. Rich don’t pay taxes and have havens and are corrupt which the people don’t find about ever! If not Tories who the whole lot needs replacing all of them corrupt to the core!! Can’t see any hope atm.
Wife’s from Russia. Honestly, the UK is so much worse for corruption. I don’t mean that shadier shit goes on, of course. It’s just that we do not benefit from it. From my time spent in Moscow, I’ve seen how corruption is awful but can equally benefit you (get out of a speeding ticket, cut queues, etc – if you have cash, you can do pretty much whatever you want). Here, it’s just used to drain our pockets without affording us any kind of benefit or privilege.

The UK’s ranking began sinking in 2014 and has been generally falling ever since – I know it’s a strange thought – but this couldn’t possibly have any thing to do with actions and perceptions of the governing party could it?
The article goes on to say the ranking should be a wake up call to the govt, however they couldn”t hear over the noise of trough guzzling.
The ruling class realised there is no punishment so why wouldn’t they carry on lining their pockets?
