  1. Interesting that they appear to be applying a council tax increase cap of 4.99% in England.

    As far as I can tell, councils in Scotland received additional funding that would have represented a 5% increase in CT.

    So appears that, from a council’s perspective, they are in the same boat as England’s councils.

    Anyone know of any caps applied in Wales?

  2. I wonder if the same people railing against rent caps will also rail against council tax caps.

  3. Interesting the comment that this Council Tax rise is unfair because it targets the poorest.

    Also the £4,5b boost in spending is a bit misleading as it implies that all this money is coming from Westminster. Almost half the money is coming from the assumption that every council will raise council tax to the maximum 4.99%. Article yesterday gives a bit more detail:

  4. I’d rather pay the additional council tax and not see services reduced even further than they have been already.
