Insane when you think about it

  1. Don’t think about it then because it’s a ridiculous false equivalency. At least come up with something worthwhile to show your disdain for the coronation if you must.

  2. Did you make this during lesson time or in the staff room?

  3. Cost of the coronation = about an extra 50p per teacher

*didn’t do the actual maths; my maths teacher at school was so dull it put me off for life*

  4. Worth every penny. I’m more pissed about politicians and peers misappropriating government funds and backroom deals than the Monarchy.

  5. i think a bigger concern is putting millions into upgrading the SA80 rifle to be (what is in my opinion the objectively best service rifle we could have) only to almost immediately replace it with the KAC KS1, which is more expensive and worse as a standard issue service rifle

  6. Billions per year v millions every few decades seems like an odd comparison.

  7. The bigger question is “How does the government tax us into borderline poverty with almost half of my income gone, yet provide sub standard serviced for it?”

  8. Even as a Monarchist, I thought the coronation was ridiculous. Most modern Monarchies have done away with coronation ceremonies altogether.

  9. (runs into bunker, locks door, grabs popcorn and watches comments)

  10. The sad thing is people don’t understand the law. The monarchy is supposed to over-rule decisions of parliment to counter corruption from outside sources with self intrests.

  11. As estimates, the coronation cost between 50 and a 100 million to put on, it generated around 1.2 billion in tourism and increased public spending.

On a normal year the Royal Family brings adds about 2.5 billion to the British economy and their cost for the 2022-2023 buisness year was 86.3 million

    So that’s why ¯_(ツ)_/¯

  12. The coronation money went back into the economy.

It paid accomodation, policing, security, logistics, workers and materials all British. Pretty much the goveenment giving money back to itself

  13. and private schools are ChArItEs and the pooor parents dont pay VAT oohhhhh boooo woooo

  14. Because they want us to know who is in charge and the rest need to know our place.

  15. And they want you to be grateful to Charlie boy that he didn’t want to waste too much money. Fool, your job does nothing good, you could have been given a paper hat and a golden tennis ball and it would be too much celebration of nothing. Anything spent was a waste.
