This isn’t USA. True, most people don’t know about the statare system being fully outlawed until 1945, but the topic in the video is already official popular lore. The Social Democrats are in this lore the hero in the cape, as they grew in power because of all the good things that they did, and use the statare system to contrast themselves with.
Even the influential nationalist party the Sweden Democrats focus their nostalgia on “Folkhemmet”, the concept introduced as a vision of the people of Sweden becoming their own masters and eliminate poverty, starvation, and “living in filth” as Per Albin Hansson expressed it.
Some classic Swedish literature portray life in Sweden before the Social Democratic Party as utter misery, such as in the case of the book series of “Utvandrarna”.
US nationalists have their nostalgic period around the declaration of independence, which was before the abolishment of slavery, and comparatively Sweden wasn’t democratic until 100 years ago, in 1920’s. As such I have never encountered any apologia for indented servitude.
