There’s [another article](https://welovestornoway.com/index.php/articles/32286-judi-dench-supports-screen-machine-campaign) so that people can actually talk about the story… but without knowing too much about the specifics of the Screen Machine and its funding, I’d say this seems like a rather worthy cause, and a great way to broaden the base of culture funding in Scotland outside of big cities. They cover a wide variety of films (with a mix of popular cinema releases, films made in Scotland and independent films, to communities that otherwise don’t get access to films like this, and they’ve got an established track record of doing this for years and years. I’m a wee bit concerned that they would actually get the 700k funding for the other half of the bus, but it seems like a sensible thing to fund.

  3. Dame Judi Dench could pay for the 50% deposit herself with about 5 months of interest on her massive wealth.

    She could get some of her chums to chip in and have it funded with even less personal expense. I am sure they could stick her name on the side or something.

  8. The amount of films I’ve seen in the screen machine, so many classic moments in cinema of the last 25 years growing up in the Hebrides. I’d be very sad to see it go

  9. How about Scot Gov pays half (which they absolutely should) and Dame Judy “Megabucks” Dench pays the other 50%, if she thinks it’s so important?

    Fed up of rich people moaning and never putting their hands in the own gigantic pockets…
