It’s about time that we, Europe, are capable of defending ourselves including Ukraine.
There’s something wrong with America.
It pains me greatly to be offering this observation from outside, after a lifetime and career where observing all of the good that America is capable of was a regular joy.
Right at the point in time where the single, greatest font of evil in this world is ripe for pruning, America loses the plot. WTF?!
Talk, talk…. Get to it!
Then macron should seriously step up military aid to ukraine.
France is rank 15 in military aid.
I still think that if we had the balls to send boots on the ground this war wouldn’t have happened in the first place, or it would end real quickly.
If Ukraine falls, the rest of Europe is in big shit. Defend now.

If US no more the lighthouse of democracy, EU needs to become the torch bearer.
I get it that Europe was not in a position to provide the kind of military equipment that the US could, due in great part to having ignored NATO military budget commitments for years. And I get it that Europe is bearing a significant financial burden in terms of supporting Ukrainian refugees.
But it seems to me that Europe has the most at stake in the outcome of this conflict and should be taking the lead, certainly on funding. Yes, the Russians are posing a threat to the international order and challenging the nice-sounding idea of “collective defense” against naked aggression. So the US has a great interest as well, but we also have other actual and potential conflicts to deal with so we should expect European leadership in supporting Ukraine (and not act as though this is a US operation.)
