FT’s sources claim Zaluzhnyi would be sacked, but President’s office has denied this. The Kyiv Independent is also receiving contradicting info. Some point out last year’s disputes between these two. What do you make of this?

1. Wasn’t there something about a Russian disinfo campaign starting rumors.

2. What I make of this? Russian propaganda machine is running at full capacity right now and some western media are buying the bullshit.

3. I do not like the implications here. From what I’ve understood Zaluzhnyi has been instrumental since the very beginning in promoting modernization of Ukrainian armed forces, Ukraine has made tremendous and mostly successful effort against numerically superior Russian war machine for two years and Zaluzhnyi has become a hero, an icon of Ukrainian resistance.

   So why sack him?

   I’d like to believe this is merely another piece of Russian propaganda, business as usual. I hope Zelensky or his office makes rapid effort to deny such bullshit in this case.

   But I’m concerned about the aforementioned disputes between these two gentlemen regarding the counteroffensive that unfortunately produced less than desirable results. If Zaluzhnyi is sacked for being the bearer of bad news (“lowering the morale of Ukrainian people and sending negative message to western allies” or something like that) that’d be big mistake in my opinion. I believe the president of a country should have people around them who tell him exactly how things are going to be, both positive and negative news. The idea suggested here that Zaluzhnyi’s replacement would be one of president’s close associates is a bad one indeed… And sounds exactly what Russian propaganda would spew out to undermine Zelensky’s authority. I’d also find it hard to believe Zaluzhnyi is corrupt and that would be the real reason for the sacking,

   I’m hoping this will be properly dismissed in due time, but hopefully that will happen soon, the longer this kind of information is left unanswered the more very important people are prone to considering this true and let it affect their decision making.
